Bookstores.com Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bookstores.com?

Bookstores.com is an online marketplace to connect potential buyers and potential booksellers in a secure environment. Bookstores.com is committed to creating a safe and reputable venue for customers to do business.

How do I return a book I ordered from Bookstores.com?

To return a product purchased on Bookstores.com, you must first contact the bookseller that originally shipped the product to request permission to return. All requests to return items and customer service questions must be directed to the bookseller that sold the book and not to Bookstores.com. Please note that some return locations may be located outside of the U.S. and that you (the buyer) may be responsible for return shipping charges.

What is the Return Policy?

Each bookseller individually determines their return policy. Bookstores.com strongly recommends that all buyers read a bookseller’s return policy when deciding whether to purchase a book.

How do I find a bookseller’s return policy?

In the book search results, click on the bookseller’s name to go to the bookseller's information page. The return policy is listed under "Customer Service Info." If no return policy is listed, you should consider contacting the bookseller to inquire about the return policy prior to ordering.

What should I do if I am not receiving a timely response from the bookseller I’m trying to contact?

If you have having difficulties with one of our booksellers, please contact our help department.

Where can I find information about selling on the Bookstores.com?

More information about the marketplace is located on our BookSeller FAQ

Who do I contact with questions regarding my Bookstores.com order (i.e. tracking or other information)?

Contact the bookseller that sold you the specific item you have questions with. Please allow 24 - 48 business hours for a response.

How do I cancel my Bookstores.com order or provide shipping address updates?

You must contact the bookseller who shipped the item regarding any cancellation or address change requests. Bookstores.com does not guarantee an address can be changed or an order canceled once the order is submitted.

Where is my refund?

You will be refunded via the original method of payment. The time it takes for your financial institution to process the refund can vary. While most are handled within 3-5 business days, some may take a few days longer. If you have not seen your refund post to your account within 10 business days, please contact our help with your order number and book information.

Why does my refund notification email only show the book amount refunded?

Please note that there are two kinds of emails you may receive regarding a refund. You will only receive one email detailing the refund of item cost if the return is discretionary. If the shipping is also refunded, you will receive a separate email. Shipping will not be refunded for discretionary returns. Please contact your seller for more information on the amount of your refund.

Why wasn't the shipping amount refunded?

First, see if you received a separate email noting that the shipping was refunded. If not, contact the bookseller to ask why shipping was not refunded. Please note that returns, which are not a result of bookseller error (i.e. cancellations), may not be eligible for shipping charge refunds.

If my order was cancelled before it was shipped, why haven't I seen my refund?

Your credit card was never charged, so no money needs to be refunded.

When an order is placed, the bank puts a hold on the money. The money is not withdrawn until a bookseller confirms the order. Since your order was cancelled before it was confirmed, we did not receive any money from your account.

While your money is on hold, it may look like it's been removed from your account since you do not have access to those funds. However, that money never leaves your account. A few days after an order is cancelled, your bank will remove the hold on the funds, and your bank statement will show that no money was removed from your account.
